Secretary, School Education Department, Government of Balochistan, Mr. Lal Jan Jaffar, visited the office of the Project Management Unit – Balochistan Education Support Program (PMU-BESP) on Friday to review progress on key education initiatives being implemented across the province.

During the visit, Project Director PMU-BESP, Mr. Hafiz Muhammad Qasim, briefed the Secretary on the implementation status of various projects and interventions being undertaken by PMU-BESP. The briefing highlighted ongoing efforts to improve access to quality education, strengthen institutional capacity, and enhance learning outcomes across Balochistan.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Abdul Khaliq, Chief Planning Officer, PPIU, along with representatives from the Finance Department and Social Welfare Department, reflecting a coordinated and collaborative approach towards advancing education sector reforms in the province.

Detailed discussions were held on several key initiatives, including the School Transportation Program, Teacher Development Program, and the use of innovative digital learning tools to expand technology-enabled education in remote and far-flung districts. The meeting also reviewed Teacher Excellence Programs aimed at strengthening classroom instruction, enhancing teaching practices, and supporting continuous professional development of teachers.

A comprehensive review of the ASPIRE Project was also undertaken, with particular emphasis on developing a robust and sustainable mechanism for the identification, enrolment, and retention of out-of-school children. Participants further discussed strengthening coordination with relevant federal institutions to improve implementation, institutional linkages, and the overall impact of ongoing education reforms.

The Secretary appreciated the dedication and performance of the PMU-BESP team and particularly commended the successful implementation of the 400 Fully Funded Scholarship Program for intermediate-pass female students of Balochistan. He termed the initiative a landmark step towards expanding access to higher education opportunities for young women across the province.

Mr. Lal Jan Jaffar encouraged the PMU-BESP team to continue its efforts with the same level of commitment, professionalism, and focus to advance education reforms and contribute to sustainable improvements in the education sector of Balochistan.
